Beacon Editorial Board Needs Three or Four Volunteers

Help pick the stories for each month’s Beacon

By Charlie Darling, Beacon staff

We need more people involved in picking stories for the Beacon each month, so we’d like to form an Editorial Board to meet early every month to plan the next Beacon. Would you consider volunteering a few hours each month to help the community have the most interesting, useful newspaper possible?

The Editorial Board’s job will be to plan ahead so that everything that makes up the fabric of life in Andover – the many events, clubs, organizations, committees, businesses, personal milestones, celebrations, reminiscences, and much, much more – is on the Beacon’s “radar screen” and gets covered at the right time and in the right way.

We need three or four volunteers to form this board. Would you be willing to:

  • Keep your eyes and ears open all month long for stories and photos that should be in the Beacon

  • Meet as a board once a month, probably the week after each Beacon comes out

  • At that meeting, help select the articles and photos we need for the upcoming Beacon

  • Help identify the right person to write a given article or take a given photo

  • Get that person (or someone else) to agree to do it

  • Stay in touch with them to be sure they turn it in by the agreed-upon day

If you’d be willing to do those things, you’d be making a big contribution to the vitality of the Andover community and to the long-term sustainability of the community’s best source of local news and more: The Andover Beacon and AndoverBeacon.com.

Is this a way of giving back to the community that you’d enjoy? Please contact Charlie Darling at 735-6099 or Charlie@nullAndoverBeacon.com for more information. Thanks!
