Kearsarge Youth Hockey Association

Kearsarge Youth Hockey Association (KYHA) has been providing ice hockey programs for area boys and girls for 35 years. This year’s season is offering early ice at their home rink, Proctor Academy’s Ted Maloney Hockey Rink. KYHA provides USA Hockey certified programs with certified coaches at all levels including mites, squirts, peewees, bantams, and, this season, a split midget season and a Learn to Skate and Learn to Play program.

The 2011 Squirts won their division state championship, and the Bantam team earned runner-up status after winning the states in 2010. Many KYHA players have gone on to play college hockey, including recent Proctor Academy graduate and Andover resident Brianna Davis, who will be playing for Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Her younger brother Keith, who is currently playing on the split season midgets, hopes to play as a freshman this year at Proctor.

Perhaps Kearsarge Youth Hockey’s most famous alum is Tara Mounsey, a member of the 1998 gold medal and 2002 silver medal US Olympic teams. For information on how to join a team, check the Web site at kearsargehockey.com or call president Don Kimtis at 526-4191.
