High-Tech Hide-and-Seek with Glenn Haley

Learn about geocaching on October 10

Press release

An outdoor demonstration of geocaching, also known as “high-tech hide-and-seek,” will be offered in Andover on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 10 AM. The event is open to the public at no charge. All ages are welcome.

Led by Andover resident Glenn Haley, participants will meet in the parking lot of the East Andover Fire Station on Channel Road for a short walk along the Northern Rail Trail. Participants should bring their own Global Positioning System (GPS) devices or smart phones, if available. Rain date is Saturday, October 24. Call 735-5135 if weather is questionable.

Geocaching is a growing hobby in which participants use electronic devices to find previously hidden containers, called geocaches, containing logbooks and, often, small items for trading. Glenn’s geocaching hobby has now led him to more than 250 finds all across New England as well as in Bermuda and Grenada.

The event is sponsored by the Andover Institute, an arm of the Andover Community Association, which also sponsors the monthly “Third Friday Andover Community Coffeehouse” in the Highland Lake Grange Hall.
