Andover High School '63

David Monroe Jewett, 70, of Franklin, passed away at his home on November 14, 2015, with his mother and three sisters by his side. David was born in Westbrook, Maine on May 29, 1945 and was the son of Noah and Irene Jewett of East Andover.

David was an active member of the East Andover Congregational Church and the Franklin Elks Club Post 1280, and was a life-time member of the Franklin VFW Post 1698, serving as Chaplain for 15 years and on many fund-raising committees. He was also Master of Ceremonies for the Fourth of July Celebration in Andover.

David was graduated from Andover High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Army, with part of his military service being spent in Korea. He also attended New Hampshire College of Accounting. He then moved to Milwaukee, where he attended The Career Academy, studying broadcasting. David then went on to earn his Culinary Apprenticeship, eventually retiring from the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin Prison System as kitchen supervisor.

David moved back to New Hampshire as a resident of Bristol and was employed by Freudenberg NOK for 10 years. He then worked part time in the kitchen for Proctor Academy in Andover. David spent his final years as a resident of Franklin.

David enjoyed gardening, gambling, card games, and volunteering for charitable organizations. David was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed other sports.

David is predeceased by his father, Noah; his brothers, Frank and Stephen; and his brother-in-law, Darrell Schader.

David is survived by his mother, Irene (Haley) Jewett of East Andover; three sisters: Barbara Schader of Athens, Georgia, Sharon Kern and her husband Arch of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Becky Dobretz and her husband Robert of Andover; three nieces, one nephew, one grand-niece, an aunt, an uncle, and many cousins.

Graveside services were held on November 20 at the Lakeview Cemetery in East Andover, followed by a memorial service at the Andover Congregational Church.
