Boston Civic Orchestra to Perform at Colby-Sawyer

Works by Tchaikovsky and Brahms on the program

Press release

The Boston Civic Symphony, now in its 92nd year, makes its fifth appearance in New London as part of the Summer Music Associates Concert Series on Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 PM. The players are exceptionally talented students and amateur musicians who perform a wide variety of music from all musical genres – Baroque to Modern.

A primary objective of the orchestra is to provide an orchestral setting to train young musicians who are pursuing professional careers. The orchestra has a tradition of presenting young solo performers. This season’s concertgoers will be introduced to Austin Kwoun, a 16-year-old award-winning soloist, who will play Sarasate’s thrilling Zigeunerweisen. The Boston Civic Symphony will also perform Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C minor.

Children’s and students’ tickets for all the Summer Music Associates concerts are only $5, and we hope many families will take advantage of this low price.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for students and are available by mail, phone, Web site, at the door, or by cash or check only at Morgan Hill Bookstore, Tatewell Gallery, or the New London Chamber of Commerce. Visit SummerMusicAssociates.com for tickets or more information, or call 526-8234.
