Stephen Proctor, Feburary 5, 2013

Stephen W. Proctor, 53, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, passed away Tuesday evening, February 5, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Rutland, Vermont, January 10, 1960, he was the son of Howard W. and Patricia G. (Little) Proctor of Andover and was a graduate of Henniker High School, class of 1978, Johnson and Wales University, class of 1982, and New England College, class of 1991.

Mr. Proctor had worked for Varian Semiconductor Equipment in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Steve was a member of Unity on the River in Amesbury and St. John’s Lodge, A.F. & AM in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was a Cub Scout leader and enthusiastic Little League coach. He was also an accomplished harmonica player who played with various area bands. Steve enjoyed cooking and woodworking and was an avid Red Sox fan. But most of all, Steve was a loving family man who enjoyed hosting gatherings at his home.

In addition to his devoted wife, Kathryn (Brown) “Kathy” Proctor of Amesbury and his parents, he leaves behind his two sons, Matthew H. Proctor of Amesbury and James R. Proctor of Goffstown; his daughter, Tanya L. Proctor of East Andover; his three grandchildren, Damien, Nathan, and Makayla, all of Keene; his two brothers, Stuart K. Proctor and wife Lisa of Newbury, and Christopher J. Proctor and wife Melissa of Emmett, Idaho; two nieces and a nephew, Elizabeth, Aidan, and Sophie Proctor of Newbury; his father-in-law, Roger Brown and wife Ellen of Clifton Park, New York; and mother-in-law, Margery Reading and husband George of Taos, New Mexico; along with many dear friends and neighbors. His passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his legacy will live forever.

Visiting hours at the Paul C. Rogers and Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, were on February 10. A Masonic Service was held the same day. A Celebration of Life gathering was held on February 11 at the Unity on the River, 58 Macy Street, Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Matthew H.
