Andover Congregational Church, July 2016

Vacation Bible School starts on August 9

By Sandy Miller, Andover Congregational Church

Happy Birthday, America! The Andover Congregational Church will have a presence at the Fourth of July festivities on the Village Green in Andover this year. Pastor John will give the invocation at the opening ceremonies at 10 AM. Cotton candy will be sold throughout the day, and all profits will go to local charities.

There will also be an informational booth with prayer being offered, if wanted, and possibly some music provided by friends and members of the Church. We look forward to seeing you there.

Several people from the church attended Pastor’s Day Out, an event held in Pembroke and sponsored by the New Hampshire Alliance. The keynote speaker was pastor Jim Simbala from the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York City. We will be partnering with the New Hampshire Alliance to help in their mission, which is to foster unity and cooperation across the body of Christ here in New Hampshire.

Vacation Bible School will be held this year from Tuesday, August 9 through Friday, August 12. This program is for ages 4 through 12. It will be held in the evenings from 6 to 8 PM to accommodate working parents who might otherwise have difficulty getting their children there during daytime hours. More on this next month.

Pastor John will be away on vacation from July 15 through August 1. He will work with the Diaconate to fill the pulpit and lead worship on those Sundays involved.

Fundraising for the Highland Lake Grange Hall continues. A flea market and bake sale is held on the last Saturday of every month (July 30 this month) from 8:30 AM to 2 PM at the Grange Hall. The event will continue through October. There are new and different items at each sale.

Your tax-deductible donation can be made to this project at any time by making a check out to the Andover Congregational Church with “Save the Grange” in the memo line. Send it to PO Box 211, East Andover NH 03231.

We invite all to join us for church service. Worship service and Sunday School for children are held every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. There are also many small group meetings at various times during the week. Call the Church office at 735-5160 for more information.

Thought for the day: “Jesus is a friend who knows all you faults and still loves you anyway.” (Read Romans 5:8.)
