Meagan Phelan has joined the Nutrition Counseling Center in New London.

Hope Damon, RD, LD, CDE, owner of the Nutrition Counseling Center in New London, welcomes Meagan Phelan RD, LD to her practice. Meagan earned her BS at the University of Vermont and completed her dietetic internship at the prestigious National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She joins Hope after providing nutrition education and counseling for members at Kaiser Permanente in Washington DC.

“I am very honored to be joining Hope in her practice,” says Phelan. “Hope is a very well-respected and effective dietitian. I am excited to help expand the services the Nutrition Counseling Center provides. My skill set and nutrition philosophy closely matches Hope’s. We both believe in respecting each person who walks through our doors as individuals and helping them improve their nutrition and wellness kindly, patiently, and skillfully.”

When asked where her passion for food and nutrition came from, Phelan said, “My grandmother owned a restaurant for several years in Barnstead, so many of my culinary skills started with her. As I learned about the impact of food and health, I just became fascinated with the idea that many people do not believe good-tasting food and nutrition can go hand-in-hand. It’s my passion to surprise people and show them that it can all fit.”

Meagan is skilled in obesity and nutrition care for all ages. She is especially passionate about family and child nutrition. Her work in Washington included instructing individuals and classes on diabetes, weight management, cardiovascular nutrition, chronic kidney disease, weight management, and healthy living. She is delighted to return to New Hampshire.

Hope Damon has been providing go-the-extra-mile nutrition care in New London since 1979 (though she likes to pretend she is younger than that!). With a very high value on science-based information balanced with a kind, individualized, practical counseling approach and a sense of humor, she has helped hundreds of people to take good care of themselves while still eating food they enjoy.
