The Mellow Yellow Experience is Coming to the Franklin Opera House

A dazzling tribute to artists of the '60s and '70s

Press release

The Mellow Yellow Experience is coming to the Franklin Opera House on Friday, August 5at 7:30 PM. It is a completely groovy, psychedelic show that transports the audience back to the era of Peace, Love, and Rock and Roll. The performers pay tribute to artists of the ’60s and ’70s, including Donovan, the Doors, the Beatles, the Moody Blues, just to name a few.

The music addresses major social issues of the late Sixties such as the Apollo moon missions, the hippie movement, and the war in Vietnam. In the Mellow Yellow Experience, five accomplished and versatile musicians perform authentic renditions of the genre’s greatest songs, while a stunning multi-media presentation and light show brings each of the songs to life.

For example, Space Oddity by David Bowie is played while images of the Apollo missions and the first lunar landing are splashed on the huge screen behind the performers.

While other tribute bands just play music, Mellow Yellow goes the extra mile to capture all the hey-man-peace-and-love grooviness of the songs that helped define a decade. With fanatic attention to detail, the members of Mellow Yellow do all they can to get inside the songs they perform. This attention to the essence of the music – as well as dazzling arrangements, outrageous costumes and outta sight, righteous video visuals – result in not just a show but a full on, far-out experience of an era gone by.

Those days may be over, but thanks to Mellow Yellow, the music and the spirit live on. Can you dig it?
