East Andover Volunteer Fire Department Minutes, August 10, 1966

Building a new tank truck

Lloyd Perreault stopped by the Beacon office last month with an old ledger containing the handwritten meeting minutes and attendance records of the East Andover Volunteer Fire Department from January 1959 through a special meeting in June of 1971. Here are a few highlights from the August 10, 1966 meeting of 50 years ago: "[Franklin Fire Department] Chief Mose Mercier showed us pictures of different fires around Franklin. They were very educational to all of us, especially on how to combat the different types of fires. ... The old tank truck was [sold] to Joe Keyser for $135. ... Motion made and seconded to pay $1,000 on the new tank truck from our savings account."
