New London Barn Playhouse Presents “Don’t Dress for Dinner”

August 24 through September 4

Press release

The New London Barn Playhouse will present Don’t Dress for Dinner from Wednesday, August 24, through Sunday, September 4.

The late Marc Camoletti’s huge hit Boeing-Boeing opened in 1960 and featured Bernard (the main character of Don’t Dress For Dinner) as a swinging bachelor engaged to three gorgeous stewardesses, each of whom is totally unaware of the others until their schedules suddenly change. Boeing-Boeing played for over seven years in London and won a Tony Award on Broadway.

Don’t Dress For Dinner is in many ways its sequel, opening in London in 1987 and playing to full houses for more than seven years. The now-married Bernard has carefully-laid plans for a romantic weekend rendezvous with his paramour that go hilariously awry when his wife appears, scheming for a secret tryst of her own.

The laughs fly by at top speed in this deliciously naughty bedroom farce about marital treachery, mistaken identity, and gourmet French cooking.

Don’t Dress for Dinner runs for two weeks, Wednesday through Sunday, August 24 through 28, and Tuesday through Sunday, August 30 through September 4. Evening performances are at 7:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday and at 5 PM on Sunday; Wednesday matinees are at 2 PM, and Friday matinees are at 3 PM.

Tickets range from $20 to $40, with student rush tickets available for $17.50. Please call 526-6570 or 526-6710 to reserve seats or for more information. Tickets can also be purchased online at NLBarn.org.
