The first meeting for FY 2016-17 took place at the Highland Lake Grange Hall on Wednesday, September 14 at 10 AM. It was a well-attended meeting with the ladies welcoming three new members. While enjoying coffee and homemade goodies, committee reports were read including information about fundraising events for the upcoming months, such as the Fall Festival Art and Craft Fair on Saturday, October 8, the Election Day hot lunch of soup, chowder, and chili with homemade baked items, and the annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale. This will be the third year for the Gifts Galore raffle of two baskets filled with assorted gifts, gift certificates, and hand-made items. Proceeds from these events benefit the ASC Merit Scholarship Fund and community organizations.

None of these undertakings would be successful without ASC volunteers and the support of the public. In these days of uncertainty, it is uplifting to see the dedication to service of the ASC members who bake delicious cakes, cookies, pies, bread, rolls, etc, and work two hour shifts at the ASC Thrift Shop, who “man” the tables at ASC events, who distribute posters in Andover and surrounding towns, and who give moral support when not able to perform the physical work that is needed. These ladies are wonderful people with whom to work and socialize.

Therefore, if you are a woman (young, old, or in-between) who would like to be of service to your community, come join us. Members reside in Andover, East Andover, Wilmot, Danbury, New London, Franklin, Tilton, Hill, and Springfield. The Flower Committee needs members who love gardening; the Thrift Shop needs members who like to work with customers who are interested in purchasing new or almost new clothing and accessories.
