Saint Andrew’s Presents Bellehouse on October 16

Proceeds benefit medical mission in Haiti

Press release

The folk band known as Bellehouse will perform in concert on Sunday, October 16, at 4 PM at the Episcopal Church of St. Andrew at 52 Gould Road in New London.

Called “some of today’s best folk/Americana” by Elmore Magazine, Brooklyn-based Bellehouse’s influence draws from Old Time and folk revival while pulling from a broad host of other genres, including Celtic traditional, classic rock, soul and Motown, Balkan choir, and beyond. The resulting synergy walks the line between down-home roots music and intellectual folk-rock.

The three front women, Jessica Taylor Clinton, Sarah Elizabeth Haines and Mackenzie Shivers, all share the songwriting responsibilities for the group, creating a fresh and harmony-rich voice in the indie-folk community. To sample the rich sound of this wonderful young Brooklyn-based group, search for “Bellehouse” on YouTube.com or visit BellehouseTheBand.com.

A free-will offering will be accepted at the event; a “meet the artists” reception will follow. Proceeds from this concert will be used to help fund our medical mission in Haiti, a pediatrician working with the poor.

This is the second concert in our three-concert series we call “Sundays at Four.” Our final concert will be on Sunday, November 13: Music for Flute, Piano, and Organ featuring our own Nicole Densmore, flute, and David L. Almond, piano and organ. The concert will include music by Bach, Schumann, Enesco, and Debussy.
