Mrs. Beatrice K. Hackett, 95, of Franklin, died on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Hospice House in Concord.

She was born in Kittery, Maine on September 1, 1921 the daughter of John E. and Elsie (Sheldon) Riley. Mrs. Hackett was raised in Maine and resided in Northfield for 55 years where she farmed and helped her husband logging before moving to Franklin in 2002.

She was the family’s little “Irish General,” totally devoted to them and always there to solve a problem and wipe away the tears. She will always be in our hearts.

Mrs. Hackett loved animals, birds, the ocean, and flowers, especially roses. An avid reader, she was self-taught to the holistic approach to health. Beatrice was a Jehovah’s Witness.

Several years ago, Mrs. Hackett worked at the Laconia State School and lastly at Franklin Regional Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters: Debbie Wright and husband Richard of Franklin, and Linda Downes and husband Frank of Andover; Four grandchildren: Christianna Young, Denise Elliott, Natasha Gilbert, and Joshua Simonds; eight great-grandchildren including Aaron Millinghaus, a great-great grandson, and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence H. Hackett; a son, Roger C. Hackett; daughters Beverly K. Woodside and Christine A. Simonds; Four brothers: Robert, John, Clifford, and Neil, and a sister, Jessie Creighton.
