The Andover Lions Club’s Golf Classic at the Country Club of New Hampshire on September 19 enjoyed the support of many area organizations and businesses again this year. It was a day of fun and fundraising as the Lions raised money to support their many projects and activities for the benefit of local communities.

Lions Clubs sponsor many sight and hearing screenings and provide exams and glasses for those in need; sponsor the Scout troop and pack; co-sponsor the Andover Food Pantry, and sponsor many youth programs, scholarships, and other local community projects.

The winning foursome in the 75 and up age class was Howard George, Tom Voss, Joe Clement, and Jack Martin, scoring 68. Placing second in the class at 69 were Pete Sorette, Nick Pirog, Will Roberge, and Bill Leber.

In the 65 and up class, first place went to Ralph Cutting, Norm LeBoncle, John Lightfoot, and Gary Karp at 68; second went to Pete Lovely, Jack Howard, Peter Martin, and Tom Gallagher at 70.

The foursome of Craig Smith, Matt Smith, Al Robertson, and Sean Kelly took first place in the Open Class at 63, with Brett Barselle, Chris Lyons, Mark Barselle, and Chris Scarpa taking second at 67.

The longest drive of the day went to Chris Lyons.

Among the raffle prizes awarded were a driver, #4 wood, pitching wedge, putter, golf shirt, and cap, all from Warrior; a forest helmet from All and Awl; two DJ parties from Omega Entertainment; a free oil change from Monroe Muffler; three free state inspections from Benson Auto, a gift card from Quality Cash Market; and a folding chair from Lake Sunapee Bank.

Other businesses and organizations supporting the event with sponsorships included J&B Landscaping, Blackwater Junction Restaurant, Boynton Law Office, Belletetes, George’s Ski Shop, Jake’s Market, Sliter and Sons, Keyser’s Garage, Proctor Academy, The Andover Beacon, Barton Insurance Agency, Green Real Estate, Clarke’s Hardware, Pleasant Lake Veterinary Hospital, Quality Cash Market, Clayton Miller Plumbing, Omega Entertainment, Seufert Law Firm, and Colonial Pharmacy.
