Andover Service Club, October 2016

3rd annual Gifts Galore Raffle on now

By Mary Ofenloch, ASC President

Last October 8, the Andover Service Club (ASC) sponsored the Fall Festival Art and Craft Fair. 27 professional artists and crafters displayed their wares for sale. If you missed this event, you lost the opportunity to purchase high-end hand-made articles for yourself or to give as gifts to family and friends. The ASC members also baked a large variety of items for sale. They were delicious as usual. This event benefitted the ASC scholarships.

On Election Day, November 8, the ASC will be selling hot lunches of soup, chowder, and chili, as well as our usual variety of baked items such as bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, etc.

One of the largest ASC fundraisers will happen on November 22 and 23 – the Thanksgiving Pie Sale at Circle K in Potter Place from 11 AM to 6 PM. A variety of fruit pies, pecan pies, and others will be sold for $10 each. This is a delicious way to top off your Thanksgiving meal.

The third annual “Gifts Galore” raffle is in full swing. Two baskets filled with an assortment of hand-crafted items made by professionals (such as a knitted alpaca scarf, insulated hot pads, wine glasses wrapped in fleece with handmade glass trays, a wood planter complete with silk flowers), gift certificates from local businesses, and other gifts. Tickets may be purchased on Election Day, at the Thanksgiving Pie Sale, from a Service Club member, or at the Thrift Shop. Winning tickets will be drawn on December 14 at the annual ASC Christmas luncheon at 74 Main in New London.

ASC is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds benefit the ASC Merit Scholarship Fund and community organizations. Any woman (young, old, or in-between) who would like to become a member may contact President Mary Ofenloch at MaryO.ASClub@nulllive.com for more information.

The first meeting of 2017 will be on January 11 at 10 AM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall. The special program is crafting.
