South Danbury Church Pie and Cookbook Sale a Success

Speaker series continues December 2

Press release

Looking back: Thank you, to everyone who came to enjoy Keegan Farr’s wonderful concert on November 11, and to all who supported our first annual sale of homemade pies and gently used cookbooks on November 12.

We even had a phone-in order, and the sale was so successful that all the pies were sold out early. It wouldn’t have been possible without the donations of pies and cookbooks from generous friends.

Looking ahead: The South Danbury Church Speaker Series continues on Friday, December 2, at 7 PM with New Hampshire author, historian, humorist, and fisherman Jack Noon. He’ll talk about his stories and explain how an author doing historical writing can develop and convey an accurate picture of the times in which the stories are set.

Two of Jack’s novels, The Big Fish of Barston Falls and Old Sam’s Thunder, are selections of the Danbury Library Reading Group and are available at the George Gamble Library on Route 104 in Danbury.

On Sunday, December 11, Reverend Gail Kinney will lead a special worship service of Christmas music with a guest artist. And don’t miss the annual South Danbury Christmas Pageant, the special gathering celebrated by Yankee magazine as “enshrined as a community event.” Expect music and song from young and old, a yuletide tableau, tasty snacks, and maybe – if we’ve all been good – a visit from Santa. All are welcome!

Watch for posters or follow “Friends of Danbury” on Facebook for event times and more details. All proceeds benefit the Church Preservation Fund.
