Wilmot Farmer’s Market Planning Next Season

Always looking for unique products

Press release

With the holidays over, the cold snowy days of January are time for rest and rejuvenation. Well not really! At least not for the Wilmot Farmer’s Market board members who find themselves in busy planning mode for the 2017 Wilmot Market season. It is time to take stock of last year’s successes and challenges and “beet” feet to “lettuce” get prepared for the upcoming season. If you “carrot” all about vending at the Wilmot market, go to wilmotfarmersmarket.com for the application and guidelines.

Bringing a shopping center to the Wilmot Green every Saturday from the last week in June through all of September involves careful planning in the off season. While the board is fine tuning applications, balancing budgets, obtaining sponsors and lining up musicians, the vendors are hard at work as well. There are seed catalogs to peruse; orders to submit; seedlings to start; product inventory to build and marketing plans to finalize. So, while the bandstand appears quiet and blanketed with white, plans are underway for opening day and all those Saturday shopping days that follow.

The Wilmot Market Board anticipates the return of most of last season’s vendors. To create a diverse market, the board is always on the lookout for unique products and more farms, especially those with produce. Prospective vendors may apply to attend one or all 15 of this season’s market. For market questions, feel free to contact market board chairman, Margaret Hoyle at socks.hoyle@nullgmail.com or 744-2244.
