Wilmot Ladies Aid Announces Merit Awards

By Lindy Heim

The Wilmot Ladies Aid Society (WLAS) wishes to congratulate its two 2016 Merit Award winners. The WLAS Merit Awards are monetary awards given out to outstanding student citizens from Wilmot to help them defray the expense of continuing their education after high school.

These awards are given annually based on exceptional character, scholastic achievement, and community involvement. The program is funded by projects such as the society’s famous holiday Cookie Walk and a bandstand supper hosted by the society during the summer months.

This year two students were recognized for their achievements: Jenna McCarthy a freshman studying graphic design at the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York and Jordan Barthol a senior studying mechanical engineering at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.

“We are so proud to be able to support these outstanding young people from Wilmot,” said WLAS president, Connie Jordan.

All are welcome to attend the society’s friendly monthly lunch meetings at the WCA at noon on the first Thursday of the month beginning in April. Call Lindy at 526 6376 for more information.
