Andover Lions Club News, January 2013

By Joyce Egge, Andover Lions Club

The Andover Lions were unable to meet due to slippery roads on February 11. Hopefully, we will be able to meet on the 25th of February.

The speaker for the second meeting in January was Eric Wiswall, owner of the Haunting Whispers Vineyard in Danbury. We were also delighted to have Erin, his wife and CEO of his company, attend the meeting. They explained how they started in the business, some of the process for making wines, and their exciting plans for expansion. They sell their wines in several grocery stores as well as the Danbury Grange market and at their vineyards.

Our rose sale has begun. We will be selling tickets during Town Meeting Day voting as well as through the members. The roses will be delivered on Saturday, March 23. Look for our table at the Town Meeting Day voting to purchase tickets and to get more information on what we are all about.

The Andover Lions will be awarding three scholarships to deserving college-bound high school students. Applications can be obtained from the high school guidance counselors or on The Andover Beacon Web site at at bit.ly/X9DKA. They will be awarded to the recipients at the end of the school year.

We will be hosting an Open House on April 22 at 6 PM at Naughty Nellie’s and welcome all interested parties to attend.
