On Valentine’s Day morning, this years second graders managed to earn a new record of donations with their Heart-Healthy Restaurant! Perhaps it was their delicious menu… or it might have been the cause they voted to donate to… Whatever the reason – the Andover Rescue Squad received a donation of $300.00!

John Kinney Receives the $300 donation for Andover Elementary Middle School.

Special thanks are due to Mrs. Frost, who provided an important and informative lesson for the students on what a healthy heart needs, to all of the parents who worked with their second graders to provide the delicious and healthy offerings for our menu this year, including but not limited to buffalo chicken chili, homemade waffles, fresh fruit, a variety of fresh vegetables and dips, a ‘rainbow of fruit’, homemade chicken noodle soup, and to our intern, Ms. Gaarder, who provided the ingredients for and cranked out dozens of fresh fruit smoothies.

AE/MS teachers had a tasty opportunity that morning. They were welcome to come to the restaurant OR they could call Room 109 for take-out. Second graders were ready to serve and make deliveries.

Perhaps most exciting was that the third graders, and there are a lot of them, dined at the restaurant. After all, they worked hard last year, so it is only fair that they get the benefits this year!

Mr. Jensen and Ms. Hildebrand are quite pleased with the work ethic, attitude, and efficiency of this years second grade students. Not only did they keep the tradition alive, but they brought the earnings to new heights! Well done!
