How to braid little girls’ hair, how men can keep their facial hair neat, and a discussion of the potential of fish farming as a component of sustainable food production in the United States will all be presented in March by the Andover Institute, a branch of the Andover Community Association.

On Wednesday, March 22: In the Andover Elementary/Middle School Library, beginning at 7 PM “Aquaculture Near and Far: Fish-farming in Andover, Zambia, and Places In Between” will focus on the good, the bad, the challenges, and opportunities that fish-farming presents.

Andover resident, and Colby-Sawyer Professor, Harvey Pine will share his research and experiences, including his time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia and his recent work in New Hampshire. The current status of aquaculture in the United States and abroad will be discussed, focusing on its potential for increased food production close to home.

On Saturday, March 25: Parents, both moms and dads, can learn the fine points of doing French braids on little girls, and men of all ages can learn some tips on keeping their mustaches trim.

The two short workshops will be presented back to back by Mary Meier, owner and operator of New Horizons Hairstylists in Andover. Parents should arrive at the salon, at 170 Main Street, at 10 AM bringing along a child to practice on, and at 11 AM, guys who would like some professional tips on keeping their facial hair neat, as well as suggestions for the best tools, are invited to stop in.

There is no charge for either program. For further information, contact the Andover Community Association at AndoverCommunity03216@nullgmail.com.
