Town Meeting and Election Rescheduled

By Daniel S. Coolidge, Town Moderator

After consultation with town officials, including the Select Board (all three), AE/MS principal, town road agent, police department, and the town attorney, this is official notice under my authority as Town Moderator and pursuant to RSA 40:4 II that:

The Town Election scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, is hereby postponed due to a severe weather emergency.  The forecast is for between 12 and 24 inches of snow on Tuesday with winds rising to between 40 and 60 mph during the day with possible whiteout conditions.  There is also the possibility of electrical outages which could disrupt the election process.

The safety of the voters and election workers is paramount in this decision.

Finally, public safety officials want to keep as many people off the local roads as possible so that emergency vehicles can get through if necessary and snow plows can keep up with the heavy snow.

The town ballot election will be held at the AE/MS school gym Saturday, March 18, with the polls open from 9 AM until 5 PM.

The Town Meeting will be held Monday, March 20, beginning at 7 PM.  The check in of voters will begin at 6 PM.
