Blazing Star Grange Hosts Rabies Clinic

Rabies clinic April 8, from 1 to 2 PM

Press Release

April is a busy month for the Blazing Star Grange of Danbury.

Starting on April Fools’ Day is the final winter farmers market of the season. Held on Saturday, April 1, from 9 AM to 1 PM, hot breakfast and lunch will be served in the Blazing Star Bistro. In anticipation of warmer weather, the theme is “Ready, Set, Grow.”

While farmers are selling last season’s crops, customers interested in growing their own vegetables can find gardening hints and advice at the market. Take the opportunity to talk to your farmers about what you could expect from them this season. Many of them would also appreciate learning what you would like to have them offer and how much.

Saturday, April 8 begins with a nod to our pets, and ends with a salute to Poetry month. The annual rabies clinic will be held from 1 to 2 PM as a joint venture between the Grange and the Pleasant Lake Veterinary Clinic.

At 6:30 PM that evening, a Poetry and Pastry night will be held jointly with the Friends of the Library. Participants welcomed. Sign up at the door for your five minutes of fame on the Grange stage.

A special guest is coming to the Danbury Grange Hall on Saturday, April 22. Rebecca Rule, a New Hampshire author, humorist, and storyteller, is appearing at 7 PM. Rule is known for sharing stories with a strong dose of good old-fashioned Yankee humor.

Ending the month on Saturday, April 29, is the Chicken Pie Supper. Served from 5 to 6:30 PM, admission for adults is $9. The meal is homemade and patrons tell us “always delicious.”

All events will be held at the Grange Hall, 15 North Road in Danbury. The Grange has been active in Danbury since 1875. Andover’s Blackwater Grange merged with Blazing Star in 2013.
