Andover Congregational Church News, May 2017

By Sandy Miller, Andover Congregational Church

We experienced very meaningful services during Easter week. Thanks to all who helped make this happen. Special thanks to Sandy and John Graves for once again allowing us to hold our Easter Sunrise Service at their homestead. The sun rose just as we were beginning the service at 6:15 AM. What a spectacular way to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection, giving us the promise of eternal life.

The Church continues to help at the Twin Rivers Food Pantry by volunteers helping out on the second Tuesday of each month, as well as by donating food. We also donate food to the Andover and Danbury food pantries.

There are several members of our Church who meet on Friday evenings at 5 PM, at City Hall in Franklin, in an attempt to curb the alcohol and drug problems that are so prevalent in the area. Other churches along with the Mayor of Franklin also attend these meetings. They gather together for prayer and to discuss proactive solutions to these problems. For more information, please contact Bob Grover at 470-7248.

Men’s breakfast continues to be held the second Saturday of the month at 8:15 AM at the Grange Hall. The program begins with a delicious breakfast followed by a speaker. Next breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 13. All men are invited to attend.

Donna reports that there will be lots of bargains to be had. There will also be a bake sale at the same time. All proceeds will go to benefit the Grange Hall Restoration Fund. .

There are many opportunities to worship with us. Please join us. Always feel free to call the Church office at 735-5160 to speak with Pastor John Wagner for more information on what’s going on at the Church, or if you need help in any way.

Thought for the day: “Don’t pray for a lighter load; pray for a stronger back.”
