Gardens? Of course, gardens, flowers and vegetables alike, and fruit trees, oh my. With our short growing season, you might want to consult Barbara Damrosch’s Garden Primer-Second Edition. This perennial favorite is all the guide you need to produce season long flowers and enough food to start zucchini wars with your neighbors.

On Tuesday, May 9 at 7 PM in the Andover Public Library, poetry is happening. Newcomer Thom Smith is interested in forming a poetry workshop in Andover, and the Libraries are sponsoring an evening of ideas, inspiration, and information. Bring pen and paper, rhyme and rhythm, and join us, do.

In case you didn’t know, the proposed federal budget would eliminate several major programs for the arts. Specifically, the Institute for Library and Museum Services would be cut. The State Library receives 70% of its funding for the InterLibrary Loan (ILL) program from that Institute. If it’s cut, the ILL services would probably be eliminated in New Hampshire. Feel free to let your representatives know what kind of impact this would have on you and your libraries.
