Former resident of East Andover

Joan M. Filon of Farmington, formally of West Hartford, passed away on March 25, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Filon for 55 years. Born in Hartford on March 26, 1941, to the late William and Josephine (D’Ambrosio) McAuliffe, she attended Hartford Schools and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1959.

Joan worked for several years for the Connecticut State Police and then in the West Hartford Public Schools. Upon retirement, Joan and her husband moved to East Andover, New Hampshire before settling in Farmington in 2009.

Besides her husband, Joan is survived by her son,Timothy Filon and his wife Erin (Dorsey) of Bristol. Her two grandchildren, Shannon Elizabeth and Ryan Patrick. Her sister, Marie Vasquez and her husband Joseph of Rocky Hill. Two nieces, Cara Vasquez Faucher and Marissa Vasquez and one great nephew. An uncle and aunt, Angelo and Connie D’Ambrosio.

Joan will also be missed by numerous cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, William McAuliffe. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 3, 2017, at Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Park.  Donations may be made in Joan’s name to The American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box 718, Old Mystic, CT 06372.
