Warner Opens Doors for Weekend Art Events

First Annual Art Walk and Open Doors Shopping Tour

Press release

This wooden bowl is an example of the types of work available at the Art Walk and Open Doors Shopping Tour to be held at the Upton Chandler House Museum in Warner, November 3-5.

On November 3-5, eleven of the region’s best artists and artisans will transform the historic rooms of Warner Historical Society’s Upton Chandler House Museum into their own personal art studios, in conjunction with the statewide New Hampshire Open Doors fall shopping and touring event. The artists will occupy their onsite studios on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, to discuss or demonstrate how they create their art, and to offer their creative works for sale.

“We’re going to start the weekend with an Art Walk on Friday evening, from the Museum to the Mainstreet BookEnds Gallery,” noted Rebecca Courser, Executive Director of Warner Historical Society. “Besides our eleven artists and artisans, the MainStreet BookEnds Gallery will feature the works of five artists. It’s an easy, short walk in our village. There will be refreshments at both locations, and we anticipate a good crowd. We also expect that the weekend Open Doors venue will become an annual event at the Upton Chandler House Museum. Some of our creative artists and artisans do not have secure studios for public visits, so they’re excited about the opportunity to create their own studios in the Museum, where they can enjoy meeting with customers and interacting with fellow artists. And, it will be very convenient for the public to visit and shop at eleven studios at one location.”

Works by participating artists include baskets, jewelry, fine arts and wooden ware. Artwork and crafts and a large selection of quality, affordable gift items will be available for sale during the event. Featured artists are Mimi Wiggin, Sarah Mundahl, Lucinda McQueen, Jeremy Guitar, Laurette Carroll, Susan Beere, Susan Parmenter, Sherry and Bill Gould, Denise Green and Gary Young. The Warner Historical Society museum store will be open to the public.

The Art Walk will take place on Friday evening, Nov. 3 in Warner village. Opening artist receptions with refreshments will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Upton Chandler House Museum at 10 West Main St., and 6:00 – 8:00 at MainStreet BookEnds Gallery, 16 East Main St.

The Open Doors shopping event (11 artists) at the Upton Chandler House Museum will be held Sat. & Sun. Nov. 4 & 5, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The Open Doors Art Show and sale at MainStreet BookEnds (5 featured artists) will run from 9 AM to 6 PM on those days.
