Andover Service Club

December News

By Mary Ofenloch, President

Another year of service to our community is coming to an end, and we are now looking forward to accomplishing even more in 2018. The ASC ladies worked very hard to make our bake sales and Election Day hot lunches both memorable and delicious. The Thanksgiving Pie Sale and “Slices for Scholarships” on the Fourth of July were very successful.

For those who do not know about “Slices for Scholarships,” let me explain. On the Fourth of July, ASC asked for donations to the ASC Merit Scholarship Fund. With gratitude for a donation of any amount, the donor received a slice of pie. This was not a pie sale, but a “by donation only” fundraiser.

The third annual Art & Craft Fair last October was also a successful ASC event. Look for another fair next year.

A new sign was recently installed at the Thrift Shop on the outside wall facing Route 4/11 (Main Street). Why not drop by to see the large variety of clothing and accessories for the entire family? Need a Christmas gift? You just might find that special gift there.

On December 13, the ASC ladies are looking forward to the annual Christmas luncheon at 74 Main Restaurant in New London, where the meals are fabulous, the venue is pleasant and comfortable, and the service is top notch. The winning ticket for the “Gifts Galore” Raffle will be drawn at the luncheon. This is a great beginning for the Christmas season.

So, as 2017 comes to a close, the ASC ladies and I wish to thank everyone who supported us and our efforts to be of service during this year. May you all be blessed with a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
