Dennis Larry Sawyer

Dennis “Larry” Sawyer, from Andover, NH, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2017 from complications due to ALS.

He was surrounded by his loving friends and family. Born in Lewiston, Maine on April 12, 1953, to Frank C Sawyer, Sr and Muriel (Fish) Sawyer, he was one of seven children. Dennis is predeceased by his father, Frank, Sr, and his sister Joanne Berube and husband Paul.

He is survived by his mother, Muriel of Lewiston, Me, his sister Joyce Lessard and husband Robert of Greene, Me, his sister Robin St. Laurent of Lewiston, Me, his brother Frank, Jr of Pasadena, Tx, his brother Steve Sawyer of Lewiston, Me, his brother Corey and wife Lori of Sabattus, Me, his niece Alexy Reyes and husband Michael of Texas, his nephew Aodhan McCool of Boston, Ma, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Dennis grew up in Maine on a farm, where, as a small child, he collected eggs, milked cows, and lugged water for the family to use in the home. He belonged to the United Pentecostal Church, and attended Sabattus High School.

Dennis married Linda Wiers, and divorced after several years.

Dennis loved to travel. He lived in Texas for several years, where he studied to be a minister. Next, he moved to Providence, RI, where he made many friends. Eventually, he trekked back to his home state of Maine, where he thrived with a close group of wonderful friends, Jimmy, Roger, and Charlie.

From Maine, Dennis then embarked on a new employment opportunity in Andover, NH, where he also found a community that welcomed him, and cherished him for his character, honesty, and down-home spirit. He mastered the art of industrial embroidery, sold clothing, and worked in the restaurant business. He had many loyal customers who often returned to him because they enjoyed his friendliness and customer service.He will surely be missed in Andover.

A Celebration of Life Party is planned for December 2, 2017, 2:00 PM, at the East Andover Grange Hall, 7 Chase Hill Road & Route 11, Andover, NH.
