Press Release

From Zumba to Suzuki:  New Programs at The Hub

New classes starting up after Christmas at The Andover Hub include a Zumba dance/fitness class, kids’ violin lessons, a German-language conversation hour, a computer problem-solving opportunity and dog-training classes.  Repeat offerings include  yoga classes, a music series for babies and preschoolers, and the ongoing Bone Builders, “Coffee at the Hub,” and a quilters and crafters group.

Zumba & Zumba Gold   Zumba mixes dance moves with exercise done to energetic Latin music, and is often called “exercise in disguise” because it’s both “super effective and super fun.”  An ongoing Zumba class will be offered on Sunday mornings, beginning January 7, 8:30 to 9:30 AM.  Additionally, six weeks of Zumba “Gold,” which is done at a slightly less intense energy level, will start on Wednesday, December 27, 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  The fee is $5/session for either class, or students may buy a punch card that earns an occasional free class.  Classes will be led by Akiesha Young; for more information, contact her at 998-0563 or at “Zumba with Akiesha” on Facebook.

Learning the Suzuki Way Suzuki-method violin lessons, both group and individual, for ages three years to adult and both beginners and those who want to improve their skills, will be offered by Cathy Todd, who is also available to teach beginning piano, viola and cello.  The Suzuki method ensures that students achieve success, whatever their age and level, actually making real music and achieving a good tone even as beginners.  Cathy’s many years of teaching and studying with Dr. Suzuki make her very good at assessing students’ skills and helping them advance to a higher level.  For more information, call or text Cathy at 748-8488.

“Sprechen Sie Deutsch”            German-language speakers,  both those completely fluent and those less so, are invited to join a German conversation hour on the fourth Thursday of each month at 4 PM.  For information, contact Gisela Darling at 735-5681.
