Three food pantries in Claremont and Enfield shared part of a $15,000 grant awarded by the New Hampshire Electric Co-op (NHEC) Foundation to the NH Food Bank.

The Foundation grant was dispersed to 24 food pantries across the state in the form of an account credit at the Food Bank.  This grant will enable pantries to shop at the Food Bank where prices are often much lower than local grocery stores.

NHEC serves nearly 5,000 members in the greater Sunapee area.  Food pantries in Claremont and Enfield each received a credit to their Food Bank account.  Credits to pantries varied from $300 – $1,100, depending on how many people the pantry serves each month.

“The timing of the grant award couldn’t have been better as most pantries see an increased need during the holiday season” said Sara Thielbar, Executive Director of the NHEC Foundation.

The NHEC Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which is funded by members of the New Hampshire Electric Co-op whose monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar with the proceeds benefiting the Foundation.
