Richard Soucy, March 10, 2018

Richard Lionel Soucy, 70, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA on Saturday March 10, 2018. He was born on May 25, 1947 in Pinardville, NH to the late Philemon and Malvena (Audet) Soucy, and graduated from Goffstown High School in 1965.

Richard enlisted and honorably served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La from 1965 to 1970. He worked hard his whole life, specifically in manufacturing, lastly at Sterilite in Townsend, MA before he became ill.

He had a love of the outdoors, including camping, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. Weekends wouldn’t be complete without early morning fishing, especially with his son Mark. He also made sure to take both his sons-in-law fishing as a rite of passage. He enjoyed attending dances, and though he had questionable taste in music, would love dancing. His family dinners with his siblings were a must for him, as he loved to spend time with his brothers and his sister, whom he cared about very much. As his health declined, he loved continuing the tradition by attending meals at his daughter Tracy’s house with his children and grandchildren. His favorite trip was to Alaska with his brother Real to catch salmon. Richard was an excellent softball player, and shared that love with his daughter Marcia.

Richard was predeceased by his older brothers Ronald and Robert.

He leaves behind his beloved children, son Mark Soucy of Manchester, NH, and daughters Marcia Coleman and her husband Joseph of Avon Lake, OH, and Tracy Soucy-Fuller and husband Robert of Haverhill, MA; brother Real Soucy of Andover, NH; sister Rita Roy of Goffstown, NH; and grandchildren Cheyenne of OH, Lauren of NH, Morgan of NH, Madison of OH, Jackson of OH, Alexander of MA, and Joel of MA; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
