PUCF Awards More Than $82,000 in Grants to New Hampshire Nonprofits

BRIDGEPORT, CT – People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, today announced that it awarded $82,890 in New Hampshire based nonprofits during its first grant cycle of 2018.
Funding was allocated to 12 nonprofit organizations in support of activities that ranged from basic needs services and affordable housing initiatives, to education and workforce development programs. Grant recipients included:

Boys and Girls Club of Manchester
New Hampshire Food Bank
Cross Roads House
Marguerites Place, Inc.
Nashua Adult Learning Center
Plowshare Farm
SHARE Outreach, Inc.
St. Joseph Community Services, Inc.
The Front Door Agency
The Granite YMCA
YMCA of Greater Nashua
The People’s United Community Foundation also contributed 16 percent of its funding to local United Way organizations across its footprint through the People’s United Bank employee match campaign. Recipients in New Hampshire included Monadnock United Way, Granite United Way, and United Way of Greater Nashua.
“We are proud to partner with and show our ongoing support for the hundreds of  nonprofit organizations across our footprint that have dedicated countless hours to having a positive impact on their local communities, and to bringing change to the lives of local residents and businesses,” said Karen Galbo, Executive Director of the Foundation.
In total, People’s United Community Foundation awarded $1,133,632 during its first grant cycle of 2018 to 177 organizations throughout the communities it serves in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The grants were disseminated in alignment with the foundations’ three areas of focus, including 39 percent to community and economic development, 29 percent to youth development, and 16 percent to affordable housing initiatives.
