New Recycling Program to Start in the Fall

Watch for notices at the Transfer Station about the coming changes in recycling.
All recyclable materials presently put in the single stream compactor will be separated to receive maximum revenue from the market.
Guidelines for sorting are below:
MIXED PAPER:  Collected in brown compactor.
Acceptable items: newspaper, magazines, hardcover books, cereal boxes, office paper, egg cartons, manila folders, etc.
Unacceptable items: gift wrap, waxed paper and cartons, food contaminated products such as paper plates, paper towels, pizza boxes, Tyvek envelopes, corrugated cardboard.
CORRUGATED CARDBOARD:  Collected separately in the recycle building.
Empty, dry, clean and flat please!
PLASTICS:   #1-#7 will be collected in one container.
Bottles and containers #1 through #7.
Acceptable items: drink bottles, food and household bottles and jars, produce/deli/bakery containers.
Empty and rinsed please!
Unacceptable items: plastic bags or wrap, Styrofoam, flower pots, no containers that held hazardous materials, NO BLACK PLASTIC, no buckets, no rigid plastic such as toys and lawn furniture.
GLASS:  No change in collection
Acceptable items: jars, bottles, mugs, plates
Unacceptable items: light bulbs (collected separately)
ALUMINUM CANS:   Collected separately in marked container.
Beverage cans only.
STEEL CANS:   Collected separately in marked container.
Soup, vegetable and pet food cans.
