Lael Boyd-Robertson, 84, passed away peacefully at Catholic Medical Center on August 31 following health complications related to congestive heart failure.
Born in Louisville, KY on June 6, 1934, she was the daughter of William & Dorothy (Stemler) Schmitt. Lael graduated from Atherton High in Louisville and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.

Steeped in deep southern roots and strong family values, Lael and her family moved to the Maryland/DC area before relocating to Merrimack in 1972 where her children graduated from local schools. She attended St. James Parish and became a member of the church choir.

Gifted with an artistic flair, Lael was a passionate artist who loved to sketch and draw charcoal portraits. She was an eloquent communicator who enjoyed writing, researching family genealogy and engaging in social and political discussions. A loving grandmother, she enjoyed preparing her favorite desserts and working on art and craft projects with her grandchildren. Lael was a compassionate animal lover who loved caring for her many family pets and feeding the birds.

Lael is survived by her cherished companion of 30 years, Burt Joseph; her three children; William Boyd-Robertson and his wife Donna of Auburn, NH; Stan Boyd-Robertson of Andover, NH; and Erin Boyd-Robertson of Nashua, NH; as well as two grandchildren; Kristy Boyd-Robertson of Auburn, NH; and Shannon Gahm and her husband Matt of Barrington, NH; nieces and cousins. She is predeceased by her brother Louis Schmitt of Crystal Lake, IL.

Lael loved her home, community and neighbors. She credits strong community support, caring neighbors, and home services for providing her with the support and assistance she needed in order to remain in her home!
