Franklin –  September 5th was the United Way’s Day of Caring! The Granite United Way describes it as, “a celebration of community volunteers giving one day to help one another. Volunteers provide helping hands to non-profit agencies that need assistance.” This year the Franklin VNA & Hospice was once again blessed with a team of enthusiastic volunteers.

Says Barbara Normandin, Franklin VNA & Hospice Executive Director, “We are so thankful for the United Way’s volunteers! They each have such a beautiful enthusiasm and a desire to help. We are truly grateful for them!”

Franklin VNA & the  Hospice mission is, “To provide quality Home Health Care, Hospice and education to individuals and families in our communities so that they may reach their highest level of independence.” The Day of Caring helps connect volunteers from the community with local organizations such as this one, to help them further their mission and provides an opportunity for the volunteers to learn about a non-profit, become more deeply involved, or simply to do good somewhere they can make a difference.

This year’s team included Jodie Gedeon and Erin Mercier from the Lincoln Financial Group and Tabitha Gerry of Franklin Savings Bank. The dynamic trio painted, landscaped and pulled errant weeds in the Teuscher – Wilson Hospice Garden.

“This year the weather cooperated with us,” notes Normandin, “Last year one of the volunteers, Mike Mullavey (of Watts Water Technologies) weeded the Hospice garden in the pouring rain! Every year the volunteers simply wow us with their capacity to get involved!”
