Sandra (Lovering) Kocher, 78, of Concord, NH passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is survived by daughters, Julie Kelly of Concord, New Hampshire and Lynn Tibbals of Dayton, Ohio, and by a sister, Jane Flood of Potomac, Maryland. She is the daughter of Jessie and Clement Lovering of New London.

Sandy, as she was known to her family, friends and colleagues was a positive, hard-working, fun person to know and with whom to work. She loved life, she loved the New London Barn Playhouse, and she lived each day with enthusiasm.

Sandy grew up in New London, New Hampshire and was the drum majorette for the New London High School band, and also played guard on the school basketball team. Sandy loved the water and served as a lifeguard in the summer at Bucklin Beach on Little Lake Sunapee. She went on to the Stenotype Institute of Boston where she became expert at the use of stenotype and office procedures. She found initial employment at the Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Company in Boston. Marriage soon entered her life, and she and her husband Fred immediately moved to Waukegan, Illinois where he was in training at the Great Lakes Naval Base. They then spent the next four years at several Navy and Marine Corp Commands. While Fred was with the Marine Corps in Vietnam, Sandy worked at the American Hospital Pharmacist’s Association in Washington, DC. After the military, Sandy and her husband lived in Columbus Ohio while he studied at The Ohio State University and Sandy worked as an administrative assistant for Ohio State’s Center for Vocational and Technical Education.

In the late 1960’s, Sandy and her husband moved to New Hampshire where they settled down in Concord and raised their family – daughters Julie and Lynn. Sandy became President of the Dewey Elementary School PTO and worked at several retail businesses in Concord, including McQuades on Main Street. But, she wanted to use her office and reception experience, so she landed a job with the NH Department of Environmental Services as their front desk receptionist in the main lobby of that building on Concord Heights where she served for a number of years until she retired.

Weekends were often spent in New London at the Lovering family home on Main Street with family members and friends. Sandy will be missed by all.

A private graveside service will be held in Proctor Cemetery, Andover, NH.
