MKIM To Hold Fundraising Auction And Social

Press release

Mount Kearsarge Indian Museum (MKIM) will hold its annual fundraising auction and social at 6:30 PM on Saturday, October 20, at the museum on 18 Highlawn Road in Warner. Peter Smith Auctioneer Services will be on hand for the live portion of the auction. Donated items will also be available at silent auction tables set up in the museum galleries, accompanied by music by the Cabbage Heads and refreshments from local restaurants.

Auction highlights include a Cheyenne-style beaded cradle, a complete peyote-stitch Gourd Dance set, Native American baskets, ski lift tickets and other outdoor fun items, a stamp collection, a cedar flute, and food and gift baskets. More items are added daily. Check IndianMuseum.org for the latest information.

Tickets to the event are $10 for MKIM members, and $15 for non-members and can be purchased in advance by calling the museum at 456-2600. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

The Native American objects in the auction have all been donated by their maker or private owners; nothing in the auction comes from the collections of MKIM.

New Hampshire has hundreds of excellent museums and centers that pay homage to the art, history and culture of persons of European ancestry, but only one that celebrates 10,000 years of Native American Indian life. This makes MKIM a unique and special place in the state. Please join us for an evening of fun and help support this not-for-profit New England jewel.

MKIM was founded in 1990 by Charles “Bud” and Nancy Thompson as an educational and cultural center to connect visitors with Native American culture, past and present, and to encourage respect for our environment. MKIM seeks to challenge all of us to improve the quality of our lives and our world.

The museum is open daily May 1 through October 31, Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM. It is open weekends in November through December 8. Visit IndianMuseum.org for a complete listing of upcoming events.
