Andover Service Club October Program

By Mary Ofenloch

Andover Service Club President

On Wednesday, October 10, at the Masonic Lodge in Potter Place, the Andover Service Club (ASC) will highlight the Friendship Family Program of Colby-Sawyer College in New London. The ASC meeting begins at 10 AM, followed by speaker Cindy Benson, who will speak about the program and introduce some students who will relate their experiences as students in New Hampshire.

Several years ago, Colby-Sawyer College made a commitment to bring more diversity to the campus by increasing the percentage of international students studying there. In the last five years, the international student population has grown from 12 to 130 from more than 30 countries.

The Friendship Family Program matches each student with a family in the local community and helps each student adjust to American culture and college life in a small New Hampshire town. Cindy will present information in detail about this program and the rewards to both the students and the families who provide a “home away from home” for these young people. This promises to be a very informative and entertaining event. Refreshments will be served after the program.

The ASC invites any lady, young or “young at heart,” who would like to attend. Simply contact Mary Ofenloch at MaryO.ASClub@nulllive.com or Judy Evans, Program Chairlady, at Evans6@nulltds.net for more information. You need not be an Andover resident or an ASC member.

The ASC membership includes ladies who reside in surrounding communities, such as Wilmot, New London, Danbury, Franklin, Bristol, Hill, New Hampton, Concord, and of course Andover and East Andover.
