Political Ads In The Beacon

New Hampshire statutes 664:14, 664:15, and 664:16 place many specific requirements on political advertising. These requirements must be adhered to. The following is a rough summary of the important points. You can read the full text of the statutes here.

Political ads must meet all the normal ad requirements covered in our rate card. They must be prepaid and are not eligible for any discounts. Whether an ad is considered a political ad or not is at the sole discretion of the publisher.

The top line and bottom line of a political ad must read Paid Political Advertisement in type no smaller than 12 points.

Political ads for a candidate must be authorized in writing by the candidate, the candidate’s agent, or an appropriate committee. The authorization must be received by the Beacon on or before the normal ad deadline.

If the political ad names any endorsers, each endorsement must be authorized in writing by the endorser. The authorization must be received by the Beacon on or before the normal ad deadline.
