Andover Congregational Church News, August 2017

By Sandra Miller, Andover Congregational Church

Happy Summer! The Missions Committee and their helpers realized almost $400 profit from the sale of cotton candy at the Fourth of July celebration in Andover. Groceries were purchased with this money and were distributed to the Twin Rivers, Andover and Danbury food pantries. Thanks to all who helped; but a special “thank you” to Joyce Bourdon and Donna Thompson who were in charge.

Our annual church picnic will be held Sunday afternoon, August 13th. Our 9:30 AM worship service will be held as usual in the Andover Congregational meetinghouse, to be followed by baptisms at Highland Lake beach starting around 11:30 and a then a picnic. Meats for grilling and various salads, desserts and beverages will be provided. Bring a chair and your appetite and join us for a fun time. If you are at the beach or in the area, come on over and join us. We’d love to get to know you.

Members of Andover Church continue to volunteer at the Twin Rivers Food Pantry in Franklin. Others meet weekly outside Franklin City Hall on Fridays at 5 PM for prayer and prayer walks throughout the city. For further information call Bob Grover at 470-7248.

We wish Howard and Pat Proctor all the best as they plan a move this month to an assisted living facility near family in Dover, New Hampshire. We very much appreciate their participation and contribution to our life as a church family over the years and, of course, will miss them very much and keep them in prayer.

Don’t forget our monthly flea market and bake sale held every last Saturday of the month from 8:30 till 2 PM at the Grange Hall. All proceeds are going to a Fund to benefit the restoration of the historic Highland Lake Grange Hall here in East Andover.

Finally, there are many opportunities to pursue God and living out our Christian faith among us. Sunday worship and Sunday school are held at 9:30 AM. Visitors are expected and very welcome. For a bigger picture of our life together you might go online to our Web site: andovercongregationalchurch.org Or feel free to call the Church office (735-5160) to speak with Pastor John Wagner for more information about what’s going on at the church or if you may need help of some kind.

Thought for the day: “If you can’t get to sleep for one night, check your pillow. If you can’t get to sleep for two nights, check your mattress. If you can’t get to sleep for three nights – check your conscience!”
