Andover Service Club News

Saturday from 10AM to3 PM

By Mary Ofenloch, ASC President

The first meeting for fiscal year 2017-2018 was well attended, with members eager to work for another successful year of service to the community, while participating in the social aspects of ASC. After enjoying refreshments provided by three ASC members, we welcomed three guests, read and discussed all business reports, and began preparations for “Christmas in October” at the Jingle Bell Fair.

The volunteers at the ASC Thrift Shop on School St. were transitioning from summer to autumn by gathering clothes for an end of summer $5 per bag special sale, while restocking the racks with a large assortment of almost new and gently used apparel for fall and winter, at prices everyone can afford. When you make a purchase at the Thrift Shop, you are helping ASC in its mission to fund the ASC Merit Scholarship Program as well as 11 community organizations. The shop will be open for business on October 28 during the “Christmas in October” fair, so stop in and see what we offer.

The special program for this meeting was a presentation by the Franklin VNA and Service Link entitled “Staying in the Home You Love,” with the emphasis on caretakers.

The next meeting of ASC will be on October 11 at 10 AM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall. Women of all ages from Andover and surrounding communities are welcome to attend.
