Annual pie sale and raffles planned

By Mary Ofenloch, ASC President

November is the time of year when we prepare for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year. The ladies of ASC are diligently shopping for the many ingredients needed to bake the large assortment of delicious pies which will be sold at the annual ASC Thanksgiving Pie Sale. Come to Circle K in Potter Place on Tuesday, November 21 and Wednesday, November 22. Your Thanksgiving dinner would not be complete without a yummy pie baked by an ASC member.

The annual Gifts Galore raffle is underway. A basket of fine gifts and gift certificates donated by local businesses and individuals will be yours if you are holding the winning tickets, which will be drawn on December 13 at the annual Christmas luncheon to be held at 74 Main in New London. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You need not be present to win. Tickets may be purchased at the ASC Thrift Shop, the Thanksgiving Pie Sale, or from an ASC member.

Last October 28, the ASC Christmas in October Jingle Bell Fair took place at AE/MS. 35 professional artisans and crafters displayed and sold their handiwork to shoppers who wanted to purchase one-of-a-kind gifts. This was the third art and craft fair held by ASC. Shoppers also were able to buy delicious homemade baked goodies, coffee, and tea to enjoy while shopping, or to take home with them for their family’s enjoyment.

However, I was shocked and dismayed to learn that sometime before the fair, someone had removed all of the ASC fair posters from every business in Andover and East Andover where ASC members had placed them. All of the ladies work very hard to make our events a success, because the income from events, such as the art & craft fair, are given back to the community in the form of merit scholarships to high school seniors and continuing education college students, as well as to 11 nonprofit groups in Andover, Danbury, the COA, and Child/Family Services. I would like to know who removed them and the reason for doing so.

The ASC is a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, therefore all donations are tax-deductible. I wish to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported ASC events throughout the years. Without your support we could not fulfill our mission of service to the community.
