Blazing Star Grange Market Increases Local Buying Options

Winter farmers market opens November 4

Press release

There are more ways to get more local this season at the Danbury Winter Market. While the normal first Saturday of the month market will begin on Nov 4 and continue every first Saturday through April, the Grange has decided to add a third Saturday to order only market to this season’s lineup of locally buying. The new plan is aimed to increase sales for local farms and artisans through this extra opportunity to sell their items. While this additional opportunity is good for the businesses, it is also aimed to help those customers who find it difficult to manage monthly buying whether financially, because of lack of storage or just being busy on the regular market day. For Nov 18 and Dec 16 , there will be a short pickup time from 9 AM to 10 PM at the Grange Hall. Customer should check in with their vendors on how they plan to accept and manage orders. Some vendors plan to use Harvesttomarket.com , an online marketing system where the Danbury Winter Market already has an existing site. In January, the 3rd Saturday pickup market will coincide with a workshop and program series.

The regular first Saturday market will offer a hot breakfast and lunch and a shopping experience on both floors of the historic Grange Hall. The market will run from 9 to 1 PM each month except for December which will stay open until 2 PM.

The following Saturday, on November 11, from 5 to 6:30 PM, the Grange will hold their famous Chicken Pie Supper which will feature many local foods that combine to become a homemade and delicious meal.
