“If I Am Not For Myself Who Will Be For Me?” Presented by Andover Libraries

By Janet Moore, Library Trustee

On Monday, April 9, the Andover Libraries will present Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti as she portrays “Oney Judge Staines”, George and Martha Washington’s runaway slave. Her voice and demeanor provide the information needed to make sense of and appreciate her struggles and self-determination, as she escaped from Virginia and ultimately landed in New Hampshire. This living history event, part of the New Hampshire Humanities To Go program, will take place at the
Stone Chapel at Proctor at 7 PM on April 9. You can find out more about Ms. Quezaire-Presutti, an artist who brings African-American stories to life, at www.quezaire-presumptive.com.
