The Post Commander Bill Leber announced the award of the Legionnaire of The Year 2017 to John Hanscom and presented him with an appropriate trophy, while commenting about John’s volunteering to help the Post in organizing the appropriate disposal of the worn flags ceremony in the last three years. He helped in food drives, the oratorical program and most important, he volunteered to accept the duties as acting Adjutant to fill the opening for partial year and was elected to be Adjutant for the current year.  Congratulations John and thank you for your extraordinary service.

Members of the Post 101 placed flags on the graves of Veterans in local cemeteries prior to Memorial Day. Those participating in placing flags on Veterans’ graves in Proctor Cemetery on Friday, May 18 were Lloyd Perrault, Don Clendenen, Walter Scott, Ron Evans and Levi Southworth.  The remaining cemeteries will be completed in the following week. May they Rest In Peace.
Flag Day is June 14.  Please display your flags at home and on town facilities. We are so proud of our community that respects our nation’s flag and demonstrates it.
The American Legion Post 101 will provide the annual appropriate and respectful flag disposal of “worn and tattered” flags on June 14 at 7 PM at the Andover Fire Department. Citizens are encouraged to renew their flags and turn the old ones into the Post for proper disposal.  We welcome the community to join us on June 14 and bring your old flags for disposal.
For Independence Day July 4, the Post is planning to enter a float in the parade and provide hot dogs at the ballfield during the tournament and at the fireworks in the evening.  Please look for us and eat up-we need your help!
The Post will also have a raffle with cash prizes and a couple surprises.  So take a chance and win big and have fun; as well as, help us help you. Tickets are available now. Contact Vice Commander Levi Southworth at 813-447-0818.
