The Andover Recreation soccer teams finished out the season in great shape. The fifth and sixth grade tournaments were held on October 17.

The fifth and sixth grade girls, who were coached by Claudio Marcus and Jeremy Menard, had an undefeated season. They made the Division A tournament, which hosted six teams that also had undefeated seasons. The girls fared well and came in third in the tournament.

The fifth and sixth grade boys team, coached by David and Morgan Salathe, finished with a 6-5 record and ended up playing the B Division Tournament held in Bradford. The boys’ goals weren’t quite there for the tournament, but throughout the year they grew as a team and had moments of greatness.

Andover’ third and fourth grade boys, coached by Heidi Murphy, Michelle Dudek, and Amy Rheume, were able to be split into two separate teams for the season. Both teams went to the Bob Andrews Memorial Tournament held in New London on October 11. Both teams worked hard and had a great time, especially when supportive parents brought snacks throughout the day.

Our first and second graders ended their season on October 10 with a friendly scrimmage among them. Michelle Dudek and Lindsay and Scott Allensby headed up this group and did a fantastic job of encouraging the young athletes with their new soccer skills.

I would like to thank all the volunteer coaches for giving up their time and being a positive role model for our youth players. I would also like to thank Leighton Terwilliger and Alan Hanscom for volunteering their time with their referee skills. We were also able to have skilled help from Camden Donovan, Zac Cronin, and Gloriana Brown.

Again, thank you for all the support. Until next time, dribble on.
