Rest of the Town Report: Andover Energy Group

The Andover Energy Group (AEG) is an informal organization of local volunteers interested in learning about and implementing renewable energy sources and energy-efficiency techniques in area homes, businesses, and institutions. Formed in June 2011, we meet on the first Thursday of each month.

AEG-sponsored activities in 2012 included “Button-Up” home weatherization workshops in January and February, an Energy Awareness Day in November that included six local “open houses” showcasing energy-efficient and alternative-energy installations, and informational tables on Town Meeting day, primary voting day, and presidential election day.

In January 2013, we hosted a solar workshop for homeowners that drew an audience of about 80. In the remaining months of the year, we’re considering additional alternative-energy workshops: a workshop on financing alternative-energy installations, additional weatherization demonstrations and workshops, and an effort to put together a “group purchase” proposal for negotiation with an alternative-energy installer.
