BirdsEyeView Aerobotics Moves to Andover

By Adam Sloan, Founder and CEO
Shown here are two of the FireFLY6 models produced by BirdsEyeView Aerobotics. Some people are initially cautious when they see the FireFLY6 flying nearby, however the FireFLY6 is a useful tool helping many people do productive jobs, like land surveying and crop health monitoring. Best of all, it’s made not just in New Hampshire, but right here in Andover. Caption and Photo: Adam Sloan

BirdsEyeView Aerobotics is a high-tech startup company that manufactures small robotic aircraft for everyday people. Previously based in Boscawen, our company’s continued growth lead to a search for more space, which we found in the former Dalbello office on Main Street. Andover’s affordability, centralized location, and access to wide open spaces for flying make it a great location for our company.

Our flagship product, the FireFLY6, weighs eight pounds, has a five foot wingspan, and can take off like a helicopter and then transition to fixed wing flight for longer range. This allows it to operate pretty much anywhere while covering significantly more ground than the traditional quadcopter drones that are common today. The FireFLY6 is available in two variants: a do-it-yourself version for experienced hobbyists who fly the aircraft for fun, and a professional version for serious commercial operators.

BirdEyeView’s team consists of veterans of the drone industry with ties to the early days of the U.S. military’s use of the technology in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we’re proud that BirdsEyeView is a “swords to plowshares” story. We prefer to call our creations “aerobots” rather than drones and consider ourselves “operators” rather than pilots, which reflects the civilian focus and advanced capabilities of our flying robots.
